Girls x 3
Being a mother of three girls has been one of the most amazing and rewarding aspects of my life, but also, I have to admit, one of the most challenging and stressful. Being responsible for well-being of these complicated creatures and trying to help them to always be happy, healthy and wise is always on my mind.
Working at UC Berkeley has exposed me to some truly great things, one of them being the Greater Good Science Center (GGSC) which has offered some great research and writing that has really resonated with me and given me some good advice in my journey through motherhood. The GGSC is unique in its commitment to both science and practice: Not only do they sponsor groundbreaking scientific research into social and emotional well-being, but they help people apply this research to their personal and professional lives. Since 2001, we have been at the fore of a new scientific movement to explore the roots of happy and compassionate individuals, strong social bonds, and altruistic behavior—the science of a meaningful life. And they have been without peer in award-winning efforts to translate and disseminate this science to the public.
Following is an article by Christine Carter of the GGSC that I have shared with all three of my lovely
creatures. I hope you do the same with yours (boys or girls)....
